Service Club

Come join the Joplin Service Club of the Blind and share information and fun.

The Club holds their monthly business meeting on the second Tuesday to discuss plans for various road trips and upcoming conventions. The Service Club has a membership fee of $14.00 per year. Being  a member of the Club entitles you to membership in the Missouri Council of the Blind, which helps keep you up-to-date on any government or legislative issues relating to the Blind. Transportation can be provided to the Center for activities if you live within a 25 mile radius (in Missouri) of our facility. We have three vans, one of which is wheelchair accessible
The Service Club comes in weekly for lunch which are cooked by Service Club Volunteer’s at a cost  of $3.00 a meal. The lunches are to promote membership into the Joplin Service Club of the Blind.

The Missouri Council for the Blind (MCB) offers a variety of programs and services to Missouri residents who are legally or  totally blind. In addition, they offer financial assistance to  persons for adaptive technology and emergency funding for payment of utility bills and for other unique situations. Limited funds are also available to a person who has incurred a medical condition and needs financial assistance with medical or other related services., (certain rules apply).  They provide peer support and encourage the local affiliates to actively support blindness issues and act as the local support group for newly blinded young people as well as the older blind.
